Get Confortable Being Unconfortable

Episode 147 - Job Searching: How to Safely Step Into the Unknown, with Janet Sernack

Episode 147 - Job searching: How to safely step into the unknown - with Janet Sernack

Janet Sernack is a consultant and coach who helps other coaches like me, leaders, and organizations to innovate, adapt and grow through disruption. In our conversation for this episode of The Job Hunting Podcast, we discuss how job seekers can use innovation concepts to be comfortable with the discomfort of the job search.

Janet's expertise is in helping her clients understand what it means to be innovative and adaptive to change. You see, you may aim for innovation all you want, but you won't get it if you don't start acting differently, structuring your business differently, and being agile to adopt and adapt to change as opportunities and threats come along. This also applies to career advancement and job hunting: you may want it, but to achieve your goal, you will need to adopt and adapt to changes as professional opportunities and threats come along!

Can you see the similarities between innovation and career advancement?

This is why I thought of bringing Janet along for a chat on the podcast. Listening to Janet would be interesting for those who are ambitious in their careers. Janet works with businesses on the cusp of innovation, so it's great to hear about what she has identified as important trends in the workplace so that you can incorporate them into your career plans and professional development.

What you will learn by listening to this episode:

  • One of the biggest challenges for employees and employers: How to reconnect

  • Best practices Janet has observed in workplaces around the world

  • How to connect through values

  • What it means to lead with a heart and connect at a heart level

This conversation happened live on my LinkedIn, Facebook page, and YouTube channel. We then edit it and add it here as a podcast episode. So if you hear weird noises or if we are interacting with people watching, now you know why.
